Missing 4 Years
A parents' plea for helpToday marks the fourth anniversary of Suzanne Lyall's disappearance.BALLSTON SPA, N.Y., March 2 - It has been four years since missing U-Albany co-ed Suzanne Lyall vanished on her way home from work. The case may be old, but Suzanne's parents want to make sure it is never forgotten.
"It's hard to believe that it's been that long," are the words Doug, Suzanne's father, uttered today. On March 2, 1998 U-Albany sophomore, Suzanne Lyall, left her part-time job at a store inside Crossgates Mall. Investigators say she took a CDTA bus back to campus. The driver says he saw her get off. That's the last time she was ever seen. Since that March night, there have been hundreds of leads...but nothing that would bring Suzy home. Now, on this difficult fourth anniversary, Doug and Mary Lyall say someone, somewhere, knows something about what happened to their daughter. "We're always hopeful that someone will watch us and maybe have a piece of conscience that will kick in and maybe allow them to overcome whatever is preventing them from coming forward with information and helping us out. That's what we're hoping will happen," said Doug. His wife, Mary added, "There's always someone out there who will see this, see us, and we'll get a telephone call and they'll say 'did you see this, have you tried that?' so people are still thinking about us and they're still trying to come up with creative ideas to help us. And it helps. It really does." The Lyalls use what's happened to them to help others. They pushed to get a special insert profiling some of New York's many cases of missing people included with state tax forms. They've also set up the center for hope and its web site to help those dealing with the pain of not knowing where a loved one is. Meanwhile the Lyall's ask that if someone is watching and thinks he can help them that, that person please call. If you have information you'd like to share, you can call New York State Police at 783-3211. You can also call the Lyall's directly at 885-1331.

Dear Suzanne's parents....

Please update this journal, even if it's only with a word or two for your daughter directly. You never know if she is watching or waiting to hear from you via this website. I pray that Suzanne is well and still alive, but simply unable to communicate with you right now. She may indeed have internet access though and may be disappointed to see that you haven't marked the anniversaries of her disappearance, on this journal, in 2 years. I would never give up hope and I wouldn't stop writing on this website or in this journal.

I'm still one of the many people across this country still praying for the safe return of your daughter.

God bless you, Andrea

In reference to "anonymous" statement about Suzanne maybe having internet access and attacking her parents about their updates on this journal. How dare you tell Suzanne's parents how to run their site for their daughter! Odds are, if Suzanne does have internet access, she would NOT make any kind of contact with anyone who could help her, as these emails, conversations, etc can be traced, just as a paper trail can. And if she indeed has internet access, she more than likely isnt sitting in front of the computer, feeling dejected because her parents haven't updated their jounrnal. They update it as they can, I would think. Too, IF Suzanne is sitting at a computer, then her captor isn't very smart. More than likely, whoever has Suzanne isn't going to allow her to be seen online, for fear of being found out. God forbid anything has happened to Suzanne that will not allow her to come home, you owe Suzanne's parents a big apology. At the end of the day, if Suzanne had ANY access to any kind of help: phone, computer, snail mail, then her parents might have heard from her by now. It is uncharacteristic of Suzanne NOT to be in contact with her family, so obviously someone is preventing the contact. There are stupid criminals out there, but if her captor provides Suzanne with internet access, Suzanne would be home right now. So, instead of attacking Suzanne's parents, why not focus on what is really important here: finding Suzanne and bringing her home. She deserves that much. Knock it off, and try a new cologne called "A Quality." It may help you see things from a different perspective. Also, keep in mind that there are pertinent facts in the case that simply cannot be revealed to the public, as it may hinder the investigation.

My bad, My post was directed to "Andrea." And I came across something else in your preaching, judgmental post:

"I would never give up hope and I wouldn't stop writing on this website or in this journal."

You would never "give up hope..." What makes you think Suzanne's parents have given up hope? Hmm? Just because they havent written in the journal in a while, in NO way means they have lost hope. It simply means they are BUSY and preoccupied with finding their daughter. If they spent all day, every day, updating this journal, they wouldn't be able to, because well, they'd be sitting at the computer, instead of getting out and searching, talking to people, etc. And well, then the journal would be completely emopty wouldnt it? By the way, who are you to judge? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe God has died and left YOU in charge. Have a nice day!
If you have anymore mindless, ridiculous comments, email me, no sense in filling this journal with your cynical, judgmental and preaching to parents who are indeed no doubt worried sick, and in pain we cannot begin to measure. calikaren71@yahoo.com

That is a fabulous idea of getting missing persons information in your state tax forms! WOW! Wonder if that idea can be taken federal or in other states?

I truthfully hope that the parents haven't forgotten about they're daughter its been 3yrs and the parents have not posted anything, I don't mean to attack but maybe she is still alive? maybe just maybe she is out there somewhere and is hoping that her parents haven't lost faith?

Never give up hope on your children people you never know one day that hope could turn into reality and even if it seems like forever it shouldn't matter when it comes to your child.

Hello, I'm sorry about your daughter. She seemed like a nice young woman. It has been long now and if unfortunately the hope to see her alive seems to fade I hope justice will be done and Suzy will be brought back to her family. And the unsane man who is around maybe praying on others young women and who could break other families' hearts will be caught. Never give up until you have Suzy back and this guy behind bars.

Prayer for Suzanne

2007-04-20 05:42 pm UTC (link)
I live in a midwest state and have never heard of your daughter, but as a parent my heart and prayers go out to you. My suggestion is that you have a giant request on your home page, requesting that everyone who reads this print out at least one copy of your daughter's missing info with her picture and ask them to post it(1 or more coppies) somewhere: a laundromat, hair salon, barbershop, a bar, grocery or party store, church, synagogue, mosque, college campus, college paper, etc. (I will be doing this myself today.) That way - more eyes in more places can be on the lookout for your daughter. With the recent return of young Shawn Hornback who was missing for so many years, I hope your hope was renewed and that soon your prayers will also be answered with joy.
A PRAYER FOR SUZANNE:I request that anyone who reads this would also say the following prayer for her. Thank You.
Dear Father in Heaven,
We praise you and thank you for your goodness, and for your love for your children wherever they are. We pray against the evil that has taken this dear daughter away from her family. Lord in heaven, you know all and see all, and you know who was responsible for this terrible crime of kidnapping this young woman, Suzanne Lyall. Lord we pray that the person(s) responsible for taking Suzanne will falter, and begin to make mistake after mistake and it will lead to his/her/or their arrest, very, very soon, please Father in Heaven, because we also pray that you would give the police working on this case great wisdom. Send an angel to them Lord to point them in the right direction to find this young woman. We pray that anyone who knows anything about this kidnapping would have it brought to the forefront of their memories and that they would be absolutely compelled to come forward with their information. Further Lord, we pray that Suzanne will be returned to her loving family, very, very soon, to give them peace. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray. Amen.

Ask anyone who reads your site (no matter what state or country they live in) to print off one or more copies of your daughters missing info with her photo, and post somewhere where lots of people might read it (churches, offices, stores, gas stations, restaurants, highway reststops, etc.) so even people who don't use computers much will see it and perhaps be able to help you.
May God bless you and send an angel to lead you to your daughter! Amen.

I went to school with Susan. Didn't know her well, but i'm almost certain we had Poli-Sci 101 together. I was a sophmore at U Albany in 98. I often think of her. I pray for her safe return as well.

I can't believe Suzy's been gone 10 years. I'm also sort of surprised that I haven't heard anything about a vigil or anything to mark this sad anniversary.
